Credit Card Abuse Suspect in Custody

The League City Police Department, in partnership with Alvin Police Department and Constable Jerry Fisher’s Office identified and located the suspect in a July 3rd theft and credit card abuse case.

On July 3, 2014, an 82 year old Dickinson woman was grocery shopping at Wal-Mart when she realized her wallet had been stolen from her purse.  Fraudulent charges on the victim’s credit cards were made at Wal-Mart and several others within close proximity of the theft.  Our agency was able to obtain surveillance photos which were released on Facebook and to other law enforcement agencies in the area.

While working with the Alvin Police Department and local businesses, detectives were able to determine the identity of the suspect, Lisa Flowers, a 54 year old from League City.  On August 4, Constable Jerry Fisher’s Deputies McCammon and Murphy waited for the suspect in the parking lot of her apartment complex.  Deputies and League City Police Officers arrested Flowers today at 11:40 a.m. without incident.

Flowers is charged with Credit Card Abuse out of League City with a bond of $150,000.

The League City Police Department would like to congratulate League City Officer Mickey Johnson for his diligent follow up investigation, Alvin Police Department Detectives Spears and Kelly, and Constable Jerry Fisher’s Office for successfully identifying and apprehending the suspect in this case.

The League City Police Department offers the following tips to prevent your wallet from being stolen:

·         Be aware of your surroundings.

·         Always keep your valuables close to you.

·         Keep your purse zipped.

If your wallet is stolen:

·         Immediately file a police report.

·         Cancel your bank and credit cards.

·         Put a fraud alert on your name with credit reporting agencies.

·         Call the Social Security Administration Fraud Hotline if your social security card is stolen.

·         Get copies of your credit report.
