Burnet police have arrested the head baseball coach at Burnet High School. Jose Miguel Sierra, 28, is accused of having an improper relationship with a high school student.

In a statement, Burnet Police Chief Paul Nelson said the crime happened two years ago, but it just recently came to light. Nelson said the relationship developed after the coach started “Snapchatting” several high school girls. Snapchat is a photo messaging app popular among high school students that allows users to send pictures with words from their cell phones which disappear after several seconds.

Police said Burnet CISD employees learned about the situation and contacted Burnet Police. When questioned by police, Sierra confessed to the relationship and resigned.

Sierra was arrested and booked into the Burnet County Jail on a felony charge of improper relationship between educator and student. The investigation is ongoing and additional charges may be filed.
