Great Texas Warrant Roundup Begins March 1

The City of League City is teaming up with law enforcement agencies and courts from more than 300 jurisdictions across Texas in a combined efforts to host the annual Great Texas Warrant Roundup beginning March 1, 2014.

The roundup is designed to target thousands of defendants with traffic, parking, city ordinance, penal code and higher charge warrants from participating jurisdictions.  It is believed to be the largest joint operation of its kind with arrests expected to continue for several days.

Once the Warrant Round-up period begins March 1st, League City Police Department and other law enforcement agencies will aggressively target those defendants on the warrant list. Authorities warn that arrests can take place at any location, including the defendant’s home, school or workplace. Additionally, a special task force will focus solely on locating defendants with outstanding warrants through a license plate recognition program and whose parked vehicle has been documented multiple times at specific locations.

This week people with outstanding warrants will receive a notice in the mail. The notices are a reminder to contact the League City Municipal Court within the next two weeks to clear up any warrants.  Those who have receive warrants can pay at 200 W. Walker or online at www.leaguecity.com/court.  Those with questions should contact the Municipal Court at 281-554-1060.
