ELGIN, Texas - A man opened fire at a religious celebration late Sunday at an Elgin home, killing one man and injuring the suspect's wife, police said Monday.

Officials said 48-year-old Pascual Sanchez Carbajal of Pflugerville left a party in the 120 block of Texas 95 near U.S. 290, returned with a .45-caliber handgun and began to fire into the crowd.

Hilarion Alvarado Crieta of Manor, 42, was struck in the back and later pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
