HOUSTON -- Authorities are searching for an inmate who escaped from the Montgomery County Jail this afternoon.

Authorities say they noticed around 1pm that Britt Chadvurn Privatte, a 40-year-old aggravated robber, was missing. They immediately began looking for him but turned up nothing.

Investigators believe Privatte scaled a wall inside the recreation yard, where he was last seen, and broke through the upper fencing to the roof.

Privatte was arrested January 7 by the Houston Police Department for bank robbery. He was being held in the Montgomery County Jail on warrants from several counties, including Harris, Walker and Fort Bend. He faces two counts of aggravated robbery, escape while arrested and burglary of a residence.

Privatte was known to work in the Walker County area and listed  Sugar Land as his home.

Authorities say Privatte should be considered dangerous.

Investigators with the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office, Texas Rangers and other local law enforcement agencies are working together to track him down.

Privatte has felony convictions in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina for drug possession and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Anyone who may know his whereabouts is asked to call 936-760-5800 (Option 3) 24 hours a day or contact their local law enforcement immediate.

Crime Stoppers will pay up to a $1000 cash reward for information leading to an arrest or indictment of a felony crime. Call 800-392-STOP (7867). Anonymous tips can also be made through the Montgomery County Crime Stoppers WEB PAGE at www.montgomerycountycrimstoppers.org.
