ALVIN - A man who threw a barstool through the glass door of a business, then fought police who tried to arrest him, wound up in jail charged with Robbery and Assault on a Police Officer Monday.

Robert Claude Powell, 33, was trying to get into the Allstate Video store on E. House Street by throwing the stoll, which he found outside, through the front glass door.  His first problem was the business owner saw him do it.

When the owner and another man attempted to subdue Powell he took off running but the two men caught up with him and tackled him and called police.

Powell made it even worse when the responding officer arrived and began to handcuff him by grabbing the officer's gun belt.  He "fought the law and the law won" and he was busted and cuffed and hauled off to jail.

In the jail booking office, Powell grabbed the gun belt of another officer and was quickly doused with a stream of pepper spray which took the fight out of him.

Police say the man was apparently high on something.

He was charged with Robbery and Assaulting a Police Officer.

Comments:

Excellent arrest by the Alvin PD. Even better is the restraint used by APD Officer's in not kicking the total dog **** out of this turd for trying to take an officer's weapon. Excellent job all around for APD.
