                                 ``Making A Difference``

With no expectation of praise or compensation for their deeds and services, the men and women of our police force brave the unknown, and leave their families every day to enure the safety of the communities in which they live. The job they perform, though rewarding in the help they provide to the citizens of this great nation, is also a dangerous one. Although all officers deserve our thanks and respect, today we shine the light on one accomplished officer in particular, Officer Andra Whittingslow of the Lake Jackson, Texas, Police Department.

Officer Whittingslow, originally graduated from the police academy in 2007, and has established an outstanding relationship with the citizens and fellow officers of Lake Jackson. She has made many accomplishments in her career as a police officer. Prior to graduating from the police academy in 2007 she achieved her Associate's degree in 2001, Bachelor's degree in 2002, and Master's degree in 2005.

Starting out as a patrol officer for the City of Lake Jackson in 2007, Officer Whittingslow displayed great skill and exceeded expectations. This officer's devotion and love for teaching was made apparent when she took her next job as the School Reource Officer (SRO) of the local college. In addition to creating a great relationship with students and staff, Officer Whittingslow offered her time as an instructor for the academy teaching PT, and conducted presentations for the students on active shooters and safety procedures. This officer's efficient work and devotion cannot be questioned as she even designed and constructed her very own Online Tip Share system for students to anonymously express their concerns to police.

In conclusion, I want to congratulate Officer Whittingslow on 5 years of outstanding service, and wish her the very best of luck as she continues her career and education.

Sacrificing her personal safety and time with her beautiful daughter, this officer's work makes a difference, and there is no one I respect more.

Respectfully,
Rick Park

I do not work for the LJPD but have taught many. It is awesome for a citizen to give kudos to their peace officers

While I appreciate the sentiment of this article and am thankful to Rick Park's kind words, I can affirmatively state as a police officer that I do expect compensation for the work I do.

The day the paycheck stops is the day I don't come to work.

Wow, what a terrible comment. You obviously have no idea what being a Peace Officer even means. The day the checks stop so do you? Well I hope the checks stop very soon because I wouldn't want you covering my back on patrol.
