Dan McCool

Longtime Pasadena civic leader and Committeeman to the State Republican Executive Committee Dan McCool passed away Thursday night.

McCool, 52, was a 22-year veteran of the Harris County Sheriff’s Office and for more than 20 years served in various civic capacities throughout the area.

He was recently elected by Republicans in state Senate District 11 as committeeman to the State Republican Executive Committee.

Originally from Kansas, McCool’s family moved to Texas in the late 1960s. He joined the U.S. Army following his graduation from Deer Park High School.

Before joining the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, McCool served in newspaper publishing and advertising and was active in various civic organizations in Pasadena, Deer Park and Clear Lake, including rotary and chambers of commerce as well as in the political arena: as Clear Lake Area Republicans Club, GOP Senate delegate, GOP Precinct delegate and election clerk.

McCool ran in the 2012 Texas State Senate District 11 Republican Primary Election and was defeated by Larry Taylor.

McCool is survived by his wife and two children.

Comments:
I met Daniel during his run for Senate and he was
an honest, good person who cared about his country
and community. My condolences to his family.
