Houston police are investigating the apparent fatal shooting of a man found at 6400 Gold Street about 8:45 a.m. on Sunday (Sept. 22).

The identity of the victim and cause of death are pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant K. Tolls and Senior Police Officer R. Cervantes reported:

A citizen driving home observed a man lying in a ditch at the above address and called police.  Officers arrived and found the male deceased with an apparent gun shot wound.  Paramedics pronounced the man deceased.  He did not have any identification in his possession.  The ditch is in an isolated area and neighbors did not report hearing any gun shots prior to the man's discovery.
