The Fire Marshal’s Office of League City has issued a reminder to residents that laws prohibiting the use, sell, purchase and possession of fireworks will be enforced.

Fireworks are illegal within the city limits and fire marshals will be on patrol and vigilant during the holiday week for violations.

Citations and potential fines will be issued for violations, according to the Fire Marshal’s Office.

League City Fire Marshal Wanda Martin also reminds residents that there are legal alternatives to use during the holiday period, including noisemakers and ‘poppers’, which are available at local stores. However, Martin cautions residents that although those alternatives are legal, they can also be dangerous.

“Please remember that while they are legal, sparklers can be very dangerous and residents should use extreme caution when using them,” said Martin.

According to Martin, sparklers can reach temperatures of 1200°F and can retain the heat even after the sparks have stopped flying.

“New Year’s Eve is a time of celebration, we want to ensure that those celebrations are done with safety and fire prevention in mind”, said Martin.

To report any the illegal use of fireworks in the city limits of League City, residents are urged to call the League City Police Department’s non-emergency line at 281-332-2566.

Also watch out for bullets!! You know from the crazies that think it is cool to fire a gun into the air not caring where the bullet lands!!!

The dummies that use the fireworks couldn't care less about the law or what ever else they are subject too. If you call the locals they never show up because thay are probably at starbucks having their coffee or parked on some street 10-6 (busy) and don't want to be bothered. The gun issue is another issue as the idiots that fire them in the air do not realize it might be one of them that gets hit from some other crazy doint the same thing.
