A high-speed chase which began in Waller County ended just west of Magnolia early this afternoon after law enforcement officials placed spike strips across the road and stopped a fleeing vehicle heading eastbound toward FM 1488.

According to Lt. Brady Fitzgerald with the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office, officials with the Texas Department of Public Safety, Montgomery County Sheriff's Office, Waller County Sheriff's Office and Magnolia Police Department assisted in ending the chase.

The spike strips were placed near Old Hockley Road on FM 1488 west of Magnolia. The tan passenger car hit the strips and crashed. Magnolia Police Department spokesperson Sgt. James Senegal reported that a male at the scene was injured and transported to a local hospital after being taken into police custody.

The incident began in Waller County when law enforcement officials attempted to pull over the vehicle as it had an obsured license plate. During the ensuing chase, Fitzgerald reported that officers observed items being thrown from the vehicle, including what is believed to be ammunition.

It was reported that the vehicle was being driven aggressively and the driver swerved hit officers' vehicles in pursuit. One officer was reportedly involved in an accident associated with the pursuit. It is unknown the condition of the officer, what agency was involved or the vehicle at this point.

The accident which ended the chase has 1488 traffic stopped in both directions.
