AUSTIN -- Gov. Rick Perry has appointed three members to the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement for terms which expired August 30, 2019.

Jason Hester of Leander is a major in the Texas Department of Public Safety assigned to the Education, Training and Research Division. He is a member of the Texas Police Association, FBI Law Enforcement Executive Development Association and FBI National Academy Associates of Texas, and a current member, former district representative and past board member of the Texas Department of Public Safety Officers Association. He is also a volunteer den leader for the Leander Boy Scouts of America and a Sunday school teacher at Central Baptist Church. Hester received a bachelor's degree from Tarleton State University, and is a graduate of the 251st session of the FBI National Academy.

Johnny E. Lovejoy II of San Antonio is president and CEO of Lovejoy and Associates. He is chair of the Community First Health Plans Board of Directors, and a board member of the National Federation of Independent Business State Leadership Council and Bexar County D.A.R.E. He served in the U.S. Air Force. Lovejoy received a bachelor's degree, master's degree in counseling psychology, and doctorates in psychology and business administration from Robert Gordon University. He is reappointed to the commission.

Joel Richardson of Canyon is sheriff of Randall County, and former chief deputy, criminal division lieutenant, criminal investigator and special crimes investigator for Randall County. He is chair of the Potter-Randall 911 District Board, and a member of the Texas Jail Association, Texas Panhandle Peace Officers Association, American Correctional Association and United Peace Officers of America. He is a member and past president of the Texas Chief Deputies Association and Canyon Rotary Club, past chair of United Way of Amarillo and Canyon, and a past board member of the Sheriffs' Association of Texas and March of Dimes. Richardson received a bachelor's degree from West Texas State University. He is reappointed and will continue to serve as chair of the commission for a term to expire at the pleasure of the governor.
