SANTA FE - Just before 8 o'clock this morning a driver who had been reported to police as driving recklessly through Santa Fe, flipped over and hit a utility police.  She was pinned inside the mangled truck and died.

The crash occurred on FM-646 causing the highway to be shut down for about 4 hours during the investigation.

Accident reconstructionists pieced the scene together.

Sgt. Eric Bruss said, "We will wait on toxicology results to determine if the driver was impaired."

League City police reported they had received earlier reports of a drunk driver in that city about 20 minutes before the Santa Fe crash. 

The dead woman was identified only as a 48-year old Texas City resident.
