LEAGUE CITY - League City Police have arrested a 35-year old man wanted in a New Orleans murder case after he man spent 24 hours in the off Calder Road.

Police had information Elvis Zulli was hiding in a trailer in the Safari Trailer Park at 2935 Calder Road, but when they went there Zulli escape out a rear window and into the massive rice and oil fields adjoining the park.

A deputy constable with League City Constable Jerry Fisher's Office surveilled the area the observed a shirtless man come from the field and get into a car with a woman.

The deputy was joined by League City officers and a K-9 Unit from nearby Harris County Precinct Eight Constable's Office.  A League City SWAT Team stopped the car on Texas 96 (League City Parkway) near the Gulf Freeway and arrested Zulli.

The man, scratched, cold and hungry from weathering the storm all night in the Killing Field, was booked into the League City Jail. 

He will be transferred to the Galveston County Jail where he will be held for New Orleans officials on charges of Murder and Harboring a Fugitive.

 PRESS RELEASE

 

On the afternoon of April 3, 2013, the office of Galveston County Precinct 8 Constable Jerry Fisher was notified of a possible murder suspect hiding out in the League City area.  The suspect was determined to be wanted for Murder and other charges by the New Orleans Police Department.  The suspect was last seen in the area of the 2900 block of Calder Road and was believed to be hiding in the oil fields nearby.  Constable Fisher immediately dispatched an undercover deputy to set up surveillance in the area.  Shortly after 7:00 pm on April 3rd, the deputy observed a white male, matching the suspect’s description, with torn wet clothes emerge from a wooded area in the 3800 block of Calder.  The deputy observed the suspect get into a white Honda, that had been driving back and forth in the area, and immediately duck down in the passenger seat.  The vehicle continued North on Calder Road.  The deputy notified the League City Police Department, and after providing the vehicle’s registration number was immediately informed by the dispatcher of an alert notification attached to that registration warning of a hand gun.  The deputy was subsequently joined by League City Police Officers and a K-9 unit from Harris County Constable Precinct 8.  The vehicle was stopped by marked units of the League City Police Department off State Highway 96, just east of IH-45 and the suspect was arrested without incident.
