Jonathan C. Kieschnick Set to Challenge Roberts for County Court Judge

LEAGUE CITY, TX – Republican Jonathan C. Kieschnick announced his intentions today to challenge Barbara Roberts, the one-term Judge of Galveston County Court at Law #2, in the March 4, 2014 GOP Primary election.

Kieschnick believes that the power of government should be limited and that the courtroom is no place for a judge to “play politics” or to have “favorites.” Kieschnick was named a “Rising Star” in 2011 and a “Texas Super Lawyer” in 2013 by Texas Monthly magazine. He has spent the past 17 years honing his skills in the courtroom. He has extensive experience in all of the types of cases heard in the Galveston County Courts and has worked on both sides of the docket.

Kieschnick has also dedicated himself to providing free legal services to the less fortunate in our community, and has served on the board of an area ministry that provides food and other assistance to those in need. He said that he believes judges, more than any other members of the community, have an obligation to serve the public.

“Judges serve the electorate, not the other way around,” said Kieschnick. “Unfortunately this fact is far too often forgotten by those elected to the bench. It’s imperative that our judges have respect for juries, litigants, attorneys and staff in order to preserve the sanctity and dignity of our legal system.”

Kieschnick is a life-long Texan. He is a graduate of Clear Creek High School; he holds a business degree from the University of Texas and earned his law degree from the South Texas College of Law in Houston.
