Woman Sought In Assaults That Injured 2 Officers

The Galveston County warrant division arrested Laura Michelle Gonzales 23 years of age for 2 Aggravated Assault warrants. Sheriff Henry Trochesset said Gonzales was taken into custody at her residence in Friendswood on Thursday morning January 29th.
In May of last year 2 off duty police officers were working traffic control on a construction site in the 1300 Blk of I-45 in Galveston County. Both officers were using their vehicles and the emergency lights were activated when the accident occurred.

Gonzales was operating her vehicle and never saw the emergency lights as she approached and slammed into the rear of the first officer’s vehicle, the impact caused his vehicle to be pushed into the second officer’s vehicle. The crash caused significant damage to all 3 vehicles. Both Officers were injured and transported to the hospital. Gonzales sustained injuries as well, and was transported to the hospital.
Troopers from the Department of Public Safety conducted the investigation into Gonzales for driving under the influence. The Galveston County Sheriff’s Office investigated the traffic accident. While deputies were investigating the accident they located marihuana in Gonzales vehicle as well.

After the investigation was completed, it was forwarded to the grand jury. The Grand jury True Billed Gonzales and she was indicted for 2 Aggravated Assault charges with a $40,000.00 bond each.
