A man was arrested Wednesday after the Austin Police Department says he sexually assaulted a teenager at the Lady Bird Lake Hike and Bike Trail.

The incident happened around 10:30 p.m. on May 25. According to the affidavit, a 13-year-old boy walking home from a drug store at 45th Street and Guadalupe Street was approached by an unknown man who asked to walk with him. The man and the victim continued to walk toward Martin Luther King Boulevard; the suspect eventually asked the teen to walk to the Lady Bird Lake Hike and Bike Trail. The man then sexually assaulted the victim on the trail.

APD arrested 35-year-old Michael Bergeron and charged him with aggravated assault of a child, a first-degree felony.

According to the affidavit, surveillance video of the victim and the man entering and leaving two stores along the route was used to identify Bergeron.
