League City residents of all ages can get lean for a cause at the 7th annual Wellness Walk sponsored by the Friends of the League City Seniors Foundation.  The 1K and 5K event will be held on Saturday, April 26 at 9 a.m. at League Park, 200 N. Park Ave.  Participants can register the day of the event.

Proceeds of the Wellness Walk benefit the League City Senior Citizens Program.  “The mission of the Friends of the League City Seniors is to work toward the enrichment of the lives of senior citizens and to support the local senior recreation program,” said Lydia Rodriguez Senior Citizens Program Recreation Specialist.  The program offers activities including act classes, ballroom dancing and exercise classes. “Not only does this event allow our community to support programs for seniors, it also gives residents an opportunity to enjoy a walk or run around League City’s beautiful historic district,” said Rodriguez.

The walk will require the closure of several League City streets from 8:45 a.m. to approximately 11:15 a.m. the day of the event.  The attached map shows the walk route.
