Continuing a tradition of the last several years, members of the Blue Knights Chapter Texas VII from Houston assisted in Operation Wounded Warrior VII in Port O'Connor, Texas.

On Friday, May 17, seven buses of Wounded Warriors arrived at Bush Intercontinental Airport.   Chapter VII members with Deputy Constables of Harris County Precinct 4, officers of the Houston, Waller and La Porte Police Departments escorted the buses to El Campo and Prasek's Hillje Smokehouse for a welcome by hundreds of citizens waiving American flags.

Departing El Campo, the buses were greeted by thousands of their fellow citizens waiving countless American flags through the towns of Ganado and Edna, arriving at Faith Family Church in Victoria for a lunch, concert and welcoming ceremony.  With continued escort of Texas VII, the Wounded Warriors arrived at Port O'Connor and were treated to dinner and an evening of fishing.

Saturday morning the Blue Knights again escorted more buses from San Antonio so a total of over 700 Wounded Warriors and their families could enjoy a day of fishing and fun. After a BBQ dinner, Texas VII escorted eight buses of our Wounded Warriors back to Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston.

This weekend was provided to our veterans at no cost to them and is completely paid for by donations of their fellow citizens.  Having men and women with critical injuries express their thanks and appreciation to members of a motorcycle club for an escort was most humbling and brings to mind a quote of General George Patton during the Battle of the Bulge, "Where do we get such men?!"  There is no question this is the best of America.
