DICKINSON - Thursday Agents of the Galveston County Auto Crimes Task Force received a request for assistance from the Dickinson Police Department. Agent John Blackwell learned a caller had contacted Dickinson PD and advised there was a stolen vehicle located at a residence in the 4200 block of 42nd Street in Dickinson.
The vehicle was described by the caller as a white Ford F-350 truck parked in the driveway of the address. The vehicle was located and confirmed to have been reported as stolen to the Galveston Police Department one month prior.
As ACTF Agents established surveillance the vehicle was seen leaving the address. The agents and Dickinson police stopped the vehicle near FM 517 and Galveston Avenue. The driver, the sole occupant, was ordered out of the vehicle. At this point the driver was complying with commands given by Agents and Officers, but as he was ordered to get on the ground, he took off running into a heavily wooded area with ACTF Agents in foot pursuit.
A perimeter was established and a Dickinson K9 Unit was called to the scene as well as League City Police and Galveston County Sheriff's Deputies. The driver was not able to be located.
Agents went back to the residence on 42nd Street and located a woman identified as Nicole Marie Crisp,23. Crisp aid her boyfriend was driving the truck but refused to identify him. She was found to have misdemeanor warrants from Texas City and Galveston County and was arrested.
Further investigation by Agents resulted in the driver of the truck being identified as David Knight Haney, 25 of Dickinson. Agents also learned that Haney had an outstanding arrest warrant issued by Galveston County. ACTF Agents also recovered what appeared to be property from several Burglaries to Motor Vehicles inside the stolen truck. The property, mostly electronics, was recovered and some of the items have been linked to a Vehicle Burglary in Hitchcock.
David Knight Haney has been charged with Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle and Evading Arrest. ACTF Agents along with local agencies are attempting to locate and arrest him. Agents are also attempting to link the other recovered property to offenses throughout the county.
Haney has a lengthy criminal history with arrests in Madisonville, Galveston and Texas City. He is an ex-convict having been convicted of Burglary and other offenses.
