LEAGUE CITY - A man wanted for failure to register as a convicted sex offender was arrested today as he drove through a League City neighborhood where undercover constable's deputies were staked out surveilling a residence where another criminal was believed to be living.

Deputies, from Constable Jerry Fisher's office in League City, was staked out on a residence in the 2000 block of Victoria Court attempting to arrest 41-year old Andy Capps wanted in Galveston County for Aggravated Assault.

As deputies were observing the house, an old, gold pickup truck drove through the neighborhood several times, peaking their interest.  A check of the license plate on his computer revealed the owner of the truck, 36-year old Larry Daniel Currie, Jr., of Bacliff, was wanted by Galveston authorities also.  His charge was failing to register as a sex offender.

The deputies called in uniformed League City officers in marked cars to stop Currie, which they did in front of his residence at 1903 Kingway, just a few doors down from Capp's house.

Andy Capps and Larry Currie

As the officers were arresting Currie, Andy Capps drove past them enroute home and was immediately recognized by the officers.  He was stopped and arrested and both were booked into the League City Jail.

Both Capps and Currie were known to League City authorites having both been arrested previously.  Capps for Criminal Mischief and Aggravated Assault of a family member.  He had also been convicted of DWI in Houston.

Larry Currie, who has also used the name Larry Curris, has been convicted of Felony Criminal Mischief, Filing a False Police Report, DWI, and Driving with Invalid License.  He was sent to prison in 2006 and paroled to Galveston County in 2011.

Capps had reportedly been living in a Bacliff Apartment, unknown to authorities, in violation of his lifetime registration requirement for sex offenders.
