The father of a two year old boy taken to Texas Children’s Hospital for a head injury Tuesday is in the custody of the League City Police Department.

Galveston County District Attorney’s Office accepted charges on 25 year old Derek Wells for Injury to a Child based on the follow-up investigation with Texas Children’s Hospital. Wells is denied bail.

His son remains in critical condition.

Injury to a Child (Penal Code Sec. 22.04) is a 1st degree felony. If convicted, a person can serve 5-99 years in prison. The fine is up to $10,000.00.
