GALVESTON - A 23-year old man wanted by Universal City Police for Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Child was captured in Galveston Wednesday afternoon by a multi-agency contingent of area law enforcement officers and the U.S. Secret Service.

Police News sources say Curtis John Weersma was charged with the crime following an investigation by police in the Bexar County city of Universal City.  The attack on the child reportedly occurred on May 16th of this year.

Details of the case were not immediately available including the sex and age of the victim.  A Universal City detective is in Galveston today working on the case.

Weersma reportedly fled to Webster, south of Houston, following the alleged assault.  Webster police and Secret Service Agents tracked him to Galveston.  When they located him in a house at 2106 Avenue O, they called for assistance from the Galveston Police Department which deployed it's Special Operations Group.

Weersma was arrested with incident.  He is being held in the Galveston County Jail pending his return to Bexar County.
