City of League City Implements Mandatory Water Rationing
The record breaking hot, dry weather has caused the City of League City to experience record high daily water usage. Voluntary water rationing was called for but after reviewing our pumpage for the last seven days, we are now implementing Mandatory Water Rationing.
Beginning Thursday, July 2, 2009, all League City residents and businesses are required to comply with a mandatory restriction on outside water usage.
? The City is requiring customers with even-numbered addresses to water only on Tuesday and Thursday, while customers with odd-numbered addresses are to water only on Monday and Wednesday. ? Outside watering is further limited to the hours between 11 p.m. and 4 a.m. for residents with hose-end sprinklers and automatic irrigation systems. However, irrigation of landscaped areas is permitted at any time if it is by means of a hand-held hose, a faucet filled bucket or watering can of five (5) gallons or less, or a drip irrigation system. ? Residential car, window, and pavement washing is prohibited except when a bucket is used without a running hose. The designated watering days will apply for these activities as well.
Please continue to practice other water conservation efforts, especially on weekends as Saturday and Sunday are our highest water usage days. These measures are called for in the Drought Contingency Plan not only to help conserve water, but to ensure adequate water supplies for fire fighting and potable water.
For water conservation tips and/or questions concerning this notice, please call the City of League City Water Production Department at 281-554-1041.
