Friendswood, Texas -  Friday evening Friendswood Police responded to a 9-1-1 call from a woman asking for help at at the Baybrook Village Apartments in the 2800 block of W. Bay Area Blvd, just north of the Friendswood city limits.  The caller whispered to dispatchers, "Please help me,"  and advised that she had been stabbed by her husband while on their way home from the Baybrook Mall.  The caller also said she had locked herself inside the bedroom.

When officers arrived they heard loud smashing sounds coming from inside the apartment and kicked in the door of the apartment, forcing their way inside.  After a brief struggle with three police officers, Christopher Cordaway, 31, of Harris County was quickly subdued and detained.

The woman, age 27, and her infant child were barricaded in a back bedroom of the apartment.  The investigation revealed that the husband was trying to break down the door of the bedroom. Clear Lake EMS treated her injury which was not life threatening.

The woman told police her husband picked her up from work and was acting and driving in a reckless manner traveling on Interstate 45 in the vicinity of Baybrook Mall. She said she was afraid for her life and that of her child and told her husband to stop the car and let her out.  It was then the husband pulled into the parking lot and stabbed the victim in the arm.

Because Baybrook Mall is in the Houston Police Department's jurisdiction where the offense occurred, Houston Police Department was called to the scene. Cordaway was turned over to the Houston Police officers who later charged him with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, a second degree felony.  He is being held in the Harris County Jail.
