GALVESTON - Late Thursday evening, Galveston police narcotics agents and uniformed officers raided a vacant house at 5206 Avenue M-1/2 arresting two men on drug charges and shutting down the known "smoke house."

Police say the agents spent hours surveilling the house before getting a search warrant from State District Judge Lonnie Cox and conducting the raid.

Officers learned the vacant house was being used as a 'smoke house' where drug use, drug transactions, and postitution was taking place, according to a statement by police department spokesman Captain Jeff Heyse.

Heyse said when officers arrived with the search warrant a car parked in front of the address fled but was stopped a short distance away and both occupants arrested.

Police seized Cocaine, PCP and Marijuana in the raid.  They attributed tips from citizens being instrumental in bringing about the arrests.

Paul Thompson, 32
