DAMON - A man was killed on a foggy roadway when the pickup he was driving collided head-on with an 18-wheeler loaded with cotton bound for shipment from Port Freeport.
Alfredo Ortega Martinez, 30, of Needville was driving north on Highway 36 between CR 20 and CR 21 at about 7:45 a.m. Monday when his tan 1999 Chevrolet Silverado crossed the center line, Department of Public Safety Trooper Randy Peck said. His truck collided with a 1998 Peterbilt driven south on Highway 36 by Sonny James Hermosillio, 33, of Rasco.
