The 11th annual Rock the Dock summer concert series is on schedule for this evening and the summer fireworks display will take place at its original time every Friday night.
Earlier today an electrical transformer located adjacent to The Original Joe's Crab Shack ignited. The fire department immediately responded and extinguished the fire. There is no damage to the interior of the restaurant.
All of the Kemah Boardwalk restaurants are open for business except for The Original Joe's Crab Shack, which we plan to re-open tomorrow.
UPDATE: It is now being reported that an electric power transformer mounted on a utility police near Joe's Crab Shack, blew up causing a termination of electric service for an area of Kemah.
Quick action by the Kemah Fire Department is said now to have prevented a fire in the two restaurants, however, employees and patron were evacuated as firefighters from Seabrook and League City responded to assist Kemah firefighters.
