A Tomball resident and Houston Firefighter was killed in a head-on collision around 4:40 p.m. on Monday. His passenger was critically injured and a woman and child in the other vehicle sustained non-life threatening injuries.

Brian Ellis Rhone, 47, was pronounced dead at 5:52 p.m. at Conroe Regional Medical Center. Rhone was employed by the Houston Fire Department, 67A.

The crash occurred on FM 1486 about four miles southwest of Dobbin and was reported at 4:40 p.m., according to an accident report by Texas Department of Public Safety Trooper Kenneth Balzekas.

The preliminary accident investigation found Rhone was southbound when he lost control of his 2006 Harley Davidson motorcycle and slid into the northbound lane, striking a 2006 Saturn View head-on.

Rhone's passenger, 49-year-old Linette Massey of Tomball, was transported to Ben Taub Hospital in Houston in critical condition, with internal injuries. According to the report, neither she nor Rhone was wearing a helmet.

The Saturn was driven by Niccola Denise Chavez, 36, of Montgomery. Chavez was transported to Conroe Regional Medical Center in good condition with a broken arm. Her passenger was 8-year-old Molly Renee Chavez, who was transported to the same facility in good condition with bruising. The report stated both were wearing seatbelts.

Weather and road conditions were listed as clear and dry.

Rhone's death was the county's second fatal automobile accident in less than 24 hours and third motorcycle accident death in one month. A Conroe teen died in a single-vehicle automobile accident Sunday night.

A father and son were killed in a Mother's Day crash (May 12) when their motorcycle crossed into the oncoming lane and struck an SUV.
