Monday, July 5th on POLICE NEWS LIVE - KGBC 1540 AM Radio Galveston - Rachel Leal & Ginger Gill from Galveston County District Attorney's Office and Mirna Arriaga of the Resource & Crisis Center of Galveston County

July 2, 2009

During the July 4th Holiday, thousands of people will be getting out to responsibly enjoy the many area events and the inviting waters of Lake Conroe. With the holiday and summer now fully underway, the Montgomery County District Attorney's office will be continuing its commitment to help ensure the safety of all that use our roadways and waterways, by coordinating a July 4th weekend No Refusal DWI event.  On both Friday, July 3rd and Saturday, July 4th, extra resources will be in place, focused on deterrence and enforcement of DWI and BWI offenses.

The program will provide nurses, police, prosecutors and judges to review probable cause affidavits in DWI and BWI arrests. Because these assets will be at more than one location in the county, officers will be able to spend more time in service and less time processing arrested persons.

Our regional approach to traffic safety and DWI enforcement will continue with this event. We will again have many agencies participating in this event, including the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office, Conroe PD, Shenandoah PD, Oakridge North PD, Pct 1 Montgomery County Constable's Office, TPWD, Splendora PD and Houston PD, among others.  Houston PD has committed two of their BAT-mobiles (Breath Alcohol Testing) vehicle for this event.

"We want everyone enjoying the 4th of July in Montgomery County to have a great and safe holiday", said Montgomery County District Attorney, Brett Ligon. "Our past events of this type have made our roads safer and I want to thank all of our law enforcement agencies for their continued effort".
