NORTH LIBERTY COUNTY - Fire destroyed part of a popular tourist spot in Liberty County on Sunday. Firefighters were dispatched to Chain-O-Lakes Resort and Conference Center off of FM 787 near Romayor around 5 p.m. where they found the two-story lodge ablaze. Despite the efforts of countless fire crews, the building was a total loss.

The multi-alarm fire was fought by departments from Liberty and Polk Counties, including Tarkington VFD, Cleveland VFD, North Liberty County VFD, Cyrpess Lakes VFD, Shepherd VFD, Woodpecker VFD, Hardin VFD, Scenic Loop VFD, Livingston FD, South Polk County VFD and Onalaska VFD.

Great place to visit! Tell Jimmy I am sorry,but I know he will be able to rebuild soon. Thanks to all the Fire Departments who helped contain the fire. Those men put their life in danger for us daily!
