When K-9 cop Rick Opperude spotted a car parked in the middle of a Pearland street recently, he naturally got out of his cruiser to see what was up. Before he got all the way up to the car a strong whiff of Marijuana smoke invaded one of his seven senses.
Opperude, a Brazoria County Sheriff's K-9 deputy, then conducted a search of the car and to no surprise discovered Marijuana and Cocaine inside. According to his report, 5 ounces of pot was all bagged up for resale as was over 4 ounces of Coke.

The cars occupants 21-year old Horacio Resendez, Jr. and 21-year old Candace Marie Murphy, were escorted to the Brazoria County Jail where they were issued new clothing for the evening. Resendez was charged with a felony crime of possessing drugs for sale and Murphy was charged with simple possession of Marijuana.
The report didn't indicate if Opperud's K-9 partner got part of the credit for the bust or if he waited in the car while Opperud sniffed out all the evidence.
