LAKE JACKSON - Volunteering some blood and about an hour of time isn't much to pay back a man who has volunteered years of his life to the Lake Jackson Volunteer Fire Department, but it's a start.
Longtime firefighter and city worker Mike Harper Sr. recently learned he has pre-leukemia, meaning blood transfusions are becoming part of his weekly schedule.
