SEABROOK, Texas - Members of the Gulf Coast Violent Offenders and Fugitives Task Force arrested a fugitive from Ohio in Seabrook this morning.
38-year old Ernest Martinez, wanted for Abduction in Darke County, Ohio, was arrested while riding with his elderly mother at SH-146 at NASA Road One as the two left his brothers home.
According to reports, Martinez, known in the Bacliff area as Junto Ruiz, went to his ex-wifes place of business in Ohio, shot the place up
wounding her, and held her hostage for nearly 24 hours before surrendering.
Officials say Martinez has been working at various businesses in the Bayshore area and at one time within the past year, worked at a nursery in Dickinson.
Martinez has served time in Chillicothe Correctional Institution in Ohio for Aggravated Burglary, Domestic Violence. He escaped from custody while serving a life sentence for the abduction.
The task force, with deputies from Jerry Fisher's, Precinct Eight Constable's Office and the Seabrook Police Department made the arrest this morning.
Officers say he has been in the area for about a year but recently went into "deep" hiding when he got word the task force was after him.
A law enforcement bulletin published nationwide describes Martinez as 'Armed and Considered Dangerous.'
