CONROE- A Cleveland woman will stand trial for her alleged involvement in the brutal beating and robbery of a 66-year-old Patton Village man on July 3.

Tanya D. Swarthout, 22, has been held in the Montgomery County Jail on $100, 000 bond since her July 12 arrest.

Last week, a Montgomery County Grand Jury indicted Swarthout on the charge of aggravated robbery, which is a first-degree felony, punishable by a sentence of five to 99 years or life in prison.

According to Patton Village Police Chief Joe Schultea, the attack and robbery occurred on July 3 around 9:30 p.m. in the 17300 block of Tram Road, at the home of a 66-year-old man (The name is withheld for his safety).

The victim told investigators he heard a car pull into his driveway and went onto his porch where he was met by a woman he identified as Swarthout. As they talked, a white male got out of the car, walked up to the porch and attacked the resident with a club, striking the man's head repeatedly and causing severe injuries.

Schultea said during the assault, Swarthout went into the man's home and took the $600 he received from Social Security, along with his cell phone. The pair then got back into the vehicle and fled, leaving the victim on his porch bleeding heavily, with no phone to call f or help.

Minutes later, the victim's friend happened to stop by and found him still laying on his porch bleeding. She had no phone, so she took the man to her home in New Caney where she dialed 911.

Medics transported the man to the Kingwood Hospital Emergency Room where he was treated and released the following morning. After arriving home, the victim notified Patton Village Police. Hospital officials contacted the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office due to confusion created by the victim having been transported from his friend's home in the MCSO jurisdiction.

Public Data shows in February, Swarthout was convicted of theft of property and sentenced to 10 days in the Harris County Jail.

The other party involved in the vicious attack remains unidentified. He is described as a white male, around 6 feet 1 inch tall, 180 pounds, medium build with numerous tattoos.

His name may be "Carlos," and he is rumored to be an ex-convict staying somewhere in southeast Montgomery County or Northeast Harris County.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Patton Village Police Chief Joe Schultea at 281-689-9511 or Montgomery County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-STOP (7867).
