Galveston County Sheriff's deputies need to talk to a "good Samaritan" that helped a woman after a reported sexual assault in San Leon last week.

Shortly after midnight Friday, October 2nd, Sheriff's deputies found a woman that said she had just been sexually assaulted in the vicinity of 27th Street and Avenue D in San Leon.  Deputies had to leave her briefly to pursue the suspects in the case, both of whom were apprehended nearby.

Sheriff's investigators learned the hysterical victim flagged down a passing motorist moments after deputies took off after the suspects.  This motorist, described as a man possibly in his early 30's with a medium-dark complexion, was driving a maroon van when he picked up the victim and took her to her home in San Leon.  He left the area before deputies could speak with him, but witnesses described him as a "nice man."

Detectives believe this man may have witnessed events related to the assault, and they'd like an opportunity to interview him.

Anyone with information about this "good Samaritan's" identity is encouraged to contact Detective Mark Bonner at (409) 621-7927.
